What is WIC?

WIC stands for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.  We provide nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and healthy foods to eligible Virginia families.  

What does WIC offer?
WIC participants recieve the following benefits:
  • nutrition education
  • breastfeeding education
  • breastfeeding support
  • breastfeeding supplies
  • food vouchers
  • information on vaccinations
  • referrals to other organizations
  • height, weight, and iron assessments
Am I eligible?
You can receive WIC benefits if you:

  • are pregnant, breastfeeding, just had a baby, or are a child under age 5;
  • live in the state of Virginia;
  • have a nutritional need (our WIC nutritionist will help you determine this);
  • and have an income within guidelines shown below.
